GUIDELINE
Project Title: Development of Assessment Criteria for the Sustainable Development of Innovative Water Technologies
Project Duration: 1 April 2026 – 31 March 2029
Brief description of the project
The ThWIC project GUIDELINE supports the commercialisation of water technologies and promotes the early integration of market requirements into the technology development process.
Innovative technologies for water reuse and water conservation in industry are essential to ensure a reliable water supply, particularly in times of increasing water scarcity. However, for such solutions to be successfully adopted in practice, they must not only be technically effective but also economically viable. This includes compliance with regulatory requirements, consideration of market needs, and the optimisation of investment and operating costs.
This is where the ThWIC project GUIDELINE comes in. Its objective is to systematically analyse commercialisation potential and market requirements and to integrate these aspects into technology development. To achieve this, a toolbox will be developed that incorporates ecological, techno-economic and socio-economic assessment criteria. Based on these analyses, commercialisation strategies for the technologies developed within ThWIC will be created, alongside business models for the establishment of cross-cluster structures.
GUIDELINE therefore contributes to accelerating the transfer of innovations into practice and supporting the successful market adoption of sustainable water technologies.
